I wanted to post this a little sooner (like right after the New Years Eve), but I got caught up with doing other stuff. Anyway, the Angry Birds and the Pigs are celebrating the New Years the traditional Japanese way along with the Dragon (2012 is the year of the dragon). I never do any holiday related work, so I decided to do one with the Angry Birds. They're eating osechi ryori (traditional Japanese New Years dish) and zouni (mochi in broth). The Yellow Bird, Red Bird, White Bird, and the Mustache Pig (we usually call it the Geezer Pig) are smashed on the otoso (spiced medicated sake). I put the Mighty Eagle and the Big Brother Bird on the hanetsuki ([link]) hagoita. The Big Brother Bird is dressed as the shishimai (Japanese lion dance) and the Mighty Eagle is drawn with an eggplant and Mount Fuji based on "Hatsuyume [link]" (even though the bird in hatsuyume is supposed to be a hawk instead of an eagle). King Pig gave little kiddie birds and piglets otoshidama (money given to children in envelopes). Usually the envelopes are decorated (have cute pictures printed on), but I got lazy with it so I just put yen signs on there .
I like the way how it came out, but I feel like the characters are too close together and the color palette is super saturated. Eh, but my favorite Blue Birds came out cute (they're eating datemaki). I collaborated this with my fiancee, ; I asked him if he could draw the dragon and the BG since there were way too many characters and shogatsu elements). Thank you my love!
Edit: 1/7/12 -
I just want to say to fellow deviants who ed and commented on this. It means a lot to me Makes me excited to draw the next Angry Birds art (I have couple ideas loaded up already).

Datemaki are swirly Japanese-style omelets mixed with white meat fish. They're pretty tasty. [link]
